Opportunities

Short-Term

Alaska Village Missions has several opportunities for you or your church to get involved in short-term missions in Alaska. We offer a wide variety of summer trips throughout the months of June, July and August. Winter trips also make a huge impact and are scheduled as needed in the colder months. If you have interest in coming to Alaska for a short-term trip please contact us for details and pricing information.

Construction
There is often a construction project in the villages or at Alaska Bible Institute that needs helping hands to complete. Summer is the time to build in Alaska, and summer seems to be our shortest season. Staff and volunteers work hard every year to get projects complete before the Alaskan winter sets in. If you are skilled in construction or just like to play in the dirt, a construction team is for you!

Ministry Teams
Small village churches are located throughout the remote villages of Alaska. The believers in these villages are often in need of refreshment, Bible teaching and increased opportunities for worship and prayer. Would your team be willing to hold church meetings in order to encourage and support a native church? Building relationships with the local people is a key to ministry in Alaska and opportunities abound. Worship teams, Bible study groups, home groups and prayer ministry teams can make a big impact in the lives of Christians living in the Alaskan bush.

Vacation Bible School
Imagine yourself boarding a small plane with like minded people eager to reach Alaska for Christ. You will soon be arriving in a small native village where you can build relationships and teach children about the love of Jesus. Every summer AVM puts together Vacation Bible School teams from churches in the lower 48.  This trip is for you if you love kids, enjoy adventure and are ready to see God work in some amazing ways.

Winter Missions
If you want to experience Alaska the way it should be (cold and snowy) then consider planning a winter mission trip. Alaska is beautiful in winter and you will have a total different experience than those had on our summer trips. Winter is a good time to do missions in Alaska, the tourists are gone and travel is significantly cheaper. The encouragement and support needs for those in the bush increases as days get shorter and darkness sets in. Winter is often a better time to help those in need in the remote villages of Alaska.
